The government has ordered the opening of 4,244 new Anganwadi centers in the state
The state government has officially issued an order to start 4,244 new Anganwadi centers in the state.
The government has given the green signal to set up 1655 Anganwadi centers in rural areas and 2589 in urban areas, where the low-income population mostly includes migrant and landless labourers.
A grant of Rs 268.98 crore has been earmarked for opening 2,589 Anganwadi centers in urban areas and 1,655 centers in places where migrant & landless workers are present.
Minister of Women and Child Development and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens Halappa Achar who has given a press statement about this, it is very happy that this official order has been issued after the announcement of Poshan Month by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Karnataka Anganwadi and Integrated Child Development Scheme renamed as Poshan Abhiyan 2.0 was launched in 1975.
At present, a total of 66,361 Anganwadi Centers have been established in the state through which 6 services such as supplementary nutritious food, pre-school education, nutrition and health education are being provided to the children, adolescents, pregnant women and barangays of the state.
At present only 56 percent of the beneficiaries can be provided under this scheme. He said that the state government has taken a significant decision to provide 6 services to the low income population living areas which are out of this scheme.
